The Center For Work And The Family
presents
Weekend Planning Retreats For Couples

Upcoming Retreat Date
November 1-3, 2002

THE RETREAT:

Effective partners, whether in business or at home, set goals, share
decision-making and periodically review their progress. This weekend planning retreat will help you and your partner step back from the pressures of daily life, enjoy an intimate getaway, and think together about your direction, goals and dreams.

During the weekend, in a safe and relaxed setting, you and your partner will have an opportunity to talk about each of the major areas of your life: Love, Family, Work, Play, Home, Money, Health, and Spirituality. To focus your discussion, you will complete a set of exercises designed to help you evaluate current levels of satisfaction, identify long term professional and personal goals, and think about values and priorities so you can set a course for yourself, your relationship and your family. Using a process designed to help you sort out problematic issues and jointly develop an action plan, you will leave with a greater sense of purpose and direction as individuals and as a couple.

THE FOCUS:

Although ten to fifteen couples will participate in the weekend retreat, your focus will be on your unique relationship and the particular issues you face. The retreat facilitators will be there to offer structure, guidance and direction. Group sessions will enable you to learn new strategies and share ideas. However, most of your time during the weekend will be spent as a couple, talking to each other. In addition to "working," you will have playtime during the weekend to renew intimacy and revitalize your relationship. Please note: These retreats are designedfor couples in stable relationships. The retreat format is NOT suitable for those in relationship crisis.

THE FACILITATORS:

Facilitators may include Leah Fisher, LCSW, marital and couple therapist;
Chris Essex, M.A., counselor and parent educator; Helen Neville, B.S.,R.N., temperament consultant and parent educator; and Charles Fisher, M.D., psychotherapist. The facilitators are available to provide couple consultation throughout the weekend.

FEEDBACK FROM PARTICIPANTS:

"This is worth its weight in gold!!!"

"This was one of the most worthwhile investments that we have made in our relationship since we got married nearly five years ago. There was just the right balance between structure and free/couple time to make it work. Thanks for helping us to reconnect, refresh and celebrate our relationship."

"We really appreciated the availability of consult time." "It helped to have a third party to provide structure and guidance on how to approach and deal with hot topics."

"The weekend provided a fantastic atmosphere to focus on us."

"The process was exactly what we were looking for."

"The location was excellent...helped forget the stress of the normal work world. The facilitators were knowledgeable and made me feel safe. They were available to everyone."

"This weekend has provided us the valuable opportunity to connect as a couple again without distraction, to rekindle the romance and to create an action plan for our life together. Resolving issues with a counselor and using these tools has been incredibly worthwhile. We'll return!"
